Why businesses say yes

On a 500-game order, every space on the board reaches 500 local households, and the average property space sells for about $245. That is roughly 50 cents per household for an ad that stays in the home for years.

Sponsors also like being part of something the town is proud of, and a finished board gives them a keepsake with their name on it.

What is on the board, and what it typically sells for.

Figures are averages for a 500-game order. Larger runs support higher ad rates because each sponsor reaches more households.

Property spaces

40 spaces · about $245 each on 500 games

The core of the board. Each of the 40 property spots carries a logo plus a line of text such as a phone number or website, in full color. Advertisers can buy several spots for more exposure, and every property space also gets the business name on its deed card.

Play money

7 denominations

Banks, credit unions, and financial advisors love these. One advertiser per bill, from $1 to $500, or one advertiser across several denominations. Printed in black ink.

Opoly cards

16 card backs · 1 advertiser

The yellow cards are named for your town. One advertiser takes all 16 backs and also gets a full-color logo on the permanent board spot where the cards sit. Fronts can carry additional select spots.

Fate cards

16 card backs · 1 advertiser

The peach cards show generic game fates on the front. One advertiser takes all 16 backs, plus a full-color logo on the Fate Cards space on the board.

Deed cards

28 card backs

A natural fit for real estate offices and mortgage lenders. Usually one advertiser takes all 28 backs, sometimes split between two or three. Printed in black ink.

Board sponsor list

Up to 50 lines · $40 to $75 each

One-line sponsor ads in the center of the board for individuals, clubs, and small businesses. A full list can add about $2,500 on top of your other ad sales, and logos can be mixed in with text.

Selling tips from 2,000 towns

  • Start with the banks. The play money is the space banks, credit unions, and financial advisors ask for.
  • Offer packages. A property space plus a card set is an easy upsell for a business that wants to stand out.
  • Use the sponsor list for the small asks. Individuals, clubs, and family businesses can join for $40 to $75 a line.
  • Do not leave spaces empty. Fill leftovers with your own organization or donate them to the chamber, school clubs, or nonprofits.
