Money and payment

How much money can I raise?

It depends on how many games you order and what you sell them for. Most groups sell each game for $20 to $30. Because your ad sales cover the entire production cost, the full sale price of every game is profit.

At $25 per game: 350 games raise $8,750, 500 games raise $12,500, 1,000 games raise $25,000, and 3,000 games raise $75,000. On top of that, the Board Sponsor List can add up to $2,500 more in one-line sponsor ads.

Our customers most commonly order 500 to 600 games. At $25 per game, a 500-game order raises $12,500, which is the typical result we quote.

How much does this cost?

Games cost between $18.50 and $23.50 each depending on quantity, with a 350-game minimum. A 500-game order is $11,250 in total production cost, and the average ad space on that order sells for $245.

The point of the program is that you do not pay this out of pocket. You sell the advertising spaces first, and those sales cover the whole production cost before the games are printed. See the full table on the pricing page.

When do I have to pay?

You do not pay until you have gathered almost all of your ad revenue, which means zero out-of-pocket cost. The game cost is covered 100% by your ad sales. We usually send the 50% deposit invoice about two weeks before your batch date.

Who collects the ad money from the businesses?

Your group collects and manages all payments from local businesses. Once most of your ad spots are sold and you are ready to begin production, you send us the 50% deposit, typically by check.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We prefer payment by check.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs change with carrier rates and order size, so we cannot quote them until your games are ready to ship. Shipping is also covered by your ad sales, and local customers are welcome to pick up in person.

Ordering and quantities

Is there a minimum order?

The minimum order is 350 games. Our typical order runs 500 to 600 games. We recommend buying as many games as your advertising revenue will support, because a larger run also lets you charge more per ad space: an ad that sells for about $245 on a 500-game order is worth about $450 on a 1,000-game order, since the advertiser reaches twice as many households.

How many games should I order?

Order as many games as your advertisers will support. If you can sell enough advertising to cover 1,500 games, buy 1,500 games. If ad sales only support 500, buy 500. That way you maximize profit without any out-of-pocket expense.

Can I reorder if I sell out?

Yes. We keep all of your artwork and game files for reorders. That said, we recommend ordering more the first time rather than reordering, because it is usually harder to sell advertising a second time back-to-back. Customers do better ordering 1,000 games up front than two batches of 500.

What if I have games left over?

Your advertisers want people to see their ads, so do not leave extra games in a closet. Customers give them as gifts, add them to giveaways and prize packages, or hand them to the businesses that advertised on the board. All of those get the game into local homes.

Advertising

Why would a local business buy an ad space?

It is one of the most affordable ways to advertise locally. On a 500-game order, every ad reaches 500 households, and the average property space costs about $245. That is roughly 50 cents per household for an ad that stays on the board for years, not a one-time impression.

What if I cannot sell every ad spot?

Fill the remaining spaces with your own organization, or donate them to local groups such as the chamber of commerce, school clubs, or nonprofits. The games can still be produced and you can still sell them.

How do I get logos and ad graphics to you?

We mainly use Dropbox and email. Google Drive and WeTransfer work too. When you are ready to start, contact us and we will share a Dropbox folder for your ads.

Design and production

Do we design the board ourselves?

You can, but you do not have to. Most groups send us the logos from their advertisers and a few photos of the town, and our designers lay out the board and box at no extra cost. You approve the proofs before anything prints.

Can we customize the game pieces?

We include our standard movers, houses, hotels, and dice. If you would like custom movers, you can ship them to us and we will pack them into your games.

Can I pick up my games in person?

Yes, if you are local. Depending on your quantity you will likely need a large trailer or an enclosed truck to carry them all.

Delivery

What is your delivery schedule?

We print in batches, about six per year, roughly every six to ten weeks. Each batch has an ads-due date and a projected delivery date roughly twelve weeks later. Upcoming 2026 batches: ads in by September 8 for delivery December 4, and ads in by November 6 for delivery February 5, 2027. The full schedule is on the pricing page and in the printable PDF.

How long does delivery take?

Plan on about twelve weeks from your batch date to delivery. Dates are set by our annual print schedule, component supply, and seasonal demand. Batch dates can shift, and we add print dates when demand is high.
